Kneauxing the Enemy 2020 Missouri
Missouri, Record: 0-2
by Bryan Follins
Missouri is 0-2 to start the season. So far, in both games, the Tigers have been outscored 49-6 by halftime. They have been out of each contest after the first two quarters.
Missouri lost three offensive linemen from last year’s team. Two starters return for the 2020 season. They are junior redshirt guard Case Cook and junior redshirt tackle Larry Borom.
After two games Mizzou has averaged 2.7 per rush, and 7.36 per pass. So far, the Tigers have not done anything noteworthy in their first two contests. Senior Larry Roundtree rushed for 84 yards against last week against Tennessee. He ran for 67 against Alabama in the opening contest. Junior quarterback Shawn Robinson, a transfer from TCU threw for 185 yards and one touchdown against Alabama. Freshman quarterback Connor Bazelak threw for 218 yards and one interception against Tennessee last week. Graduate student Damon Hazelton and junior Jalen Knox are the leading receivers after two games with 100 yards each.
Frankly, Missouri has not shown a capacity to strike fear into the heart of an opponent in 2020, at least not yet.
On defense, junior linebacker Nick Bolton is one of the best players in the conference. Bolton, in two games, has 25 tackles, including a 17 tackle, 13 solo, effort against Tennessee. Bolton is the third leading tackler in the SEC after two contests.
It’s strange to say the season is still early the second week into October, but it is. So far, Mizzou has shown it can only play two quarters in a football game, and that is when the game is virtually over. So, what will the Purple and Gold have to deal with Saturday? They will find out Saturday.
