Record: 1-3 overall, 0-1 conference
Eastern Michigan is not a good football team. They enter the game against the Purple and Gold as a weak defensive squad, especially bad against the run. They have allowed 38 points per contest. The Eagles are last in The Mid-American Conference, MAC, in rushing defense. EMU has allowed 1533 yards on the ground after four games this season. They have given up 6.9 yards per carry for the year, while allowing an average of 383.2 rushing yards per contest. That is not good. In their game Army last Saturday, they allowed 556 yards on the ground, and six opposing players rushed for a minimum of 60 yards.
The Purple and Gold must be licking their chops.
The Eagles lead their conference in pass defense, but it is probably because no team has to pass against them.
Senior linebacker Great (Great?) Ibe is the leading tackler on the team. He has 43 tackles, 18 solos, on the season.
The Eagles have a good running back. His name is Darius Jackson. He is tied for ninth in the country in scoring, with seven rushing touchdowns, and one receiving score. Jackson has eight touchdowns after four games. Jackson has rushed for 407 yards on the season, averaging 101.7 yards per game, which leads his league.
The second leading threat on the team, so far, is sophomore punter Austin Barnes, who averages 47 yards per punt.
The biggest threat for the Purple and Gold against Eastern Michigan is the Purple and Gold. The only way for the Tigers to lose this game, is for everyone, including the coaching staff, to show up Saturday night stoned out of their minds. This is not going to happen.
